Wonder Woman Day 2010

Hello, comics readers.

We all know Wonder Woman is an Important superhero. Some of us (me, at least) will gladly evangelize her awesomeness beyond being “important.” But, did you know? This Sunday, October 24th is Wonder Woman Day!

The Lasso know you want to come to Wonder Woman Day

Wonder Woman Day is a swell event hosted by Excalibur Comics in Portland, Oregon.  It all started five years ago, when the folks at the Wonder Woman Museum fansite got together with artists and local comic shops to auction off original art for charities and programs dedicated to helping the victims of domestic violence (October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month).  Five years and over $89,000 dollars later, Wonder Woman Day 5 descends on Portland (and Flemington, New Jersey) this Sunday with a benefit that includes door prizes, artist signings, and an outdoor block party.  Mayor Sam Adams has even made Wonder Woman Day official!  How cool is that?

Shaun and I will be going.  Anyone else thinking about making the trek to Portland to celebrate the coolest superhero and contribute to a good cause?
